Many of us are visual and may need a sign to see what we must do or where we must go. It helps to clarify our direction and shows us what we must accomplish.
Gideon, a Judge, was approached by an Angel to go into battle against the Midianites who had taken over their land. He was first directed to destroy the altars that the people had constructed to worship Baal. Whenever he did this, he made lots of people angry. Next, Gideon was summoned to go into battle, which was a huge task for him. He wanted to be sure of the assignment and requested to see a sign!
Gideon asked God to make the fleece full of dew, while keeping the ground around it dry. Then he asked God to reverse it (Judges 6:36-40). God did everything Gideon had requested and he saw everything happen. Now convinced that he was to go into battle, his recruitment began with 32,000 men. Amazing right? Not quite! God refused to share His glory with anyone and decreased the numbers substantially. He did not want the battle to be won in the strength of numbers by Gideon and his men. God provided a simple plan to weed out and choose the men just by a drink of water from the river (Judges 7:4-8).
This drastic drop from 32,000 down to 300 men could have really been discouraging, but God instructed Gideon and his servant to go into the Midianites camp. It was there that they heard one of the men share his dream that Gideon and the Israelites would destroy them in battle (Judges 7:9-14). Indeed, God was working behind the scenes on their behalf.
What are you struggling with overcoming? Is it your health, finances, your marriage, wayward children, your job or just the fears of COVID 19? Do you need a sign that you can be victorious?
God has an antidote just for you! Everything that you need to know can be found in the Word of God. There you can see yourself winning the battle. Remember that where there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18).
How powerful is the Word of God! Whatever we are going through our answer is there in our road map, the Bible! I like to recite scriptures to encourage my heart. I think on scriptures like, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me” (Philippians 4:13) and “Fear thou not; for I am with thee:” (Isaiah 41:10).
As with Gideon, he sought the Lord. You may also need a visual sign. Please seek Him today while he may be found. His Word has the answer for you!
Signs help us gain focus.
