Planting Season Has Begun

Spring is in the air! The birds, bees, rabbits, and other creatures are merely going on their way. The dormant plants begin to grow, and hibernating animals are awakened for a new beginning. How exciting it is to see all these things happen around us. How does spring make you feel? What kind of things are you doing to identify this season as a time for new beginnings?

I have decided that I want to add another raised garden and have connected with some amazing people. One raises beautiful horses and has more manure that I could ever use, however he gives it away to a farmer that uses it to make compost or “black gold.” I have met this farmer and have gleaned such tried-and-true tips that he uses to produce his amazing crops. As we gathered bags upon bags of this rich fertilizer, full of earthworms and other microorganisms, I gladly left my donation! He doesn’t charge for it but uses the donations for his hospitality committee at church. One of his suggestions was to place cardboard boxes from furniture or appliance stores down as the base of the garden floor which decreases weed growth, smart, right? Next, I randomly placed layers of wheat straw I had gotten from the first gentleman that raises horses and manages Triangle Landscape, so much fun! This was my new beginning for the raised garden.

Jesus encourages us to prepare for a new beginning, especially if we do not have a personal relationship with Him. He reminds us that he is the Only Way to God (John 14:6). He is so patient as He waits for us, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and open the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with me.” Jesus loves us so much!

What a wonderful invitation to have the Creator of every good and perfect thing to join you in a newness of life…a new beginning? Please pray the simple prayer asking Jesus to come into your life, your heart, forgive you of your sin and accept you into his family…planted for a new season a new beginning!
