My Challenge for You
I would like to challenge you today as followers of Jesus Christ to remember that we are not alone but must trust and believe that he is always with us. Proverbs 3:5-6 confidently reminds us to trust in God with all of our heart and lean not to our own understanding. We must look beyond our circumstances, as that old adage says, “we can’t see the forest for the trees” sometimes we cannot see the truth of a matter because we are in the midst of the battle. May we look to God, (v6) considers that we seek His will and purpose in every situation and that we may allow him to lead, guide and direct us in the way we must go. May we acknowledge God in the following ways as he challenges us in open and closing of doors to meet his purpose for our lives:
- Trust and Believe God Loves You
- Acknowledge God’s Word- Heart Not Just Thoughts
- Seek His Will in Every Area of Life
- Pray God Directs Your Plans with His Purpose
Closing Door Testimonial
As a Special Education teacher, I worked in a county that provided a10% supplement beyond the original salary and surrounding areas did not offer that incentive so I tried to keep the door open there to receive that salary. Various situations were harmful to my personal success as an educator there, but the extra money kept me engaged. First, my travels to and from work were an hour to and from work each day. During my travels to work one day, unengaged motorists rear-ended my car a couple of separate times. The wear and tear on my vehicle caused my husband to oppose me to continue teaching in this county outside our district. Another of the biggest reasons that God was closing this door was the fact that I was not as engaged with my own children and was not able to meet their extracurricular activities in a timely manner. My stance to even desire to keep the door open was weakening! In addition, things began to happen at school as the dynamics of my class changed causing 95% evaluations to become between 80 and 75% due to behavioral and management issues.
Opening Door
I began to seek God in prayer for the plans and direction that he had set for me. When I looked at my journey, I realized that he had tried to close these doors for a while, but I was trying to keep them open to receive the additional 10% salary. I decided to say yes to the change and move forward to close this door that God might open another. Thankful and blessed because God opened another amazing door for me. Revelation3:8 reminds us that God opens doors that no man can open and shuts doors that no man can shut. He blessed me in another school closer to my home as an Administrator, a Curriculum Facilitator for which I have certification and not as a Special Education Teacher as I had expected. Has God opened doors in your life that seemed impossible? What happened? When families face situations, that almost seem unbearable and do not know which way to go or how to move forward, remember, Jesus knows the plans he has set for you and will give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust Him! God cares for you and the things that you care about; nothing is too large or too small. He cares about your loss pet, family member or loved one, an unfavorable diagnosis, your finances, employment, or relationship issues. Seek to know him and build a relationship with him because Jesus is the Way to the Father (John 14:6). How can God solve that impossible thing in your life today?
