Group Coach Volunteer Itinerary
The Selma Senior Center has become a rewarding place to hang out. As one of the volunteers, I welcome the amazing activities that have been made available. I especially appreciate the Group Life Coaching sessions offered each week. The individuals that began as strangers have now become a family. We begin each week by sharing the things we have done since the last time we met. Listening to the things shared about weekends and family gatherings has allowed us to get to know each individual very well. In addition to sharing, the class is given a weekly prompt to write their perspective in about ten minutes. Habaakkuk 2:2 reminds us that it is important to write the vision and make it plain. As an author, I believe that writing is healing for the soul and in addition, individuals may orally share their writings if they desire. The conversations are engaging and continue to grow each of us to be better for ourselves and others.

A couple of the ladies shared that before they began the group coaching sessions, believed that they would probably need counseling as well. Many sessions later, DrWanda posed the prompt question to the entire group of what they would like to see happen differently in our sessions and how s/he would present those changes to the class? The consensus of the group was that “if it is not broken why fix it?” The final sentiments of the class was that they like the way class opens with personal reflections, leading to prompt writing and discussions of engaging and practical life issues. We have conceded that our little group is a family and have helped each person to grow exponentially while exploring real life situations through discussions. Did I tell you that we eat or “break bread” together as a family and are planning to go out for brunch and attend a movie in the next couple of weeks? What can you do to move upward and advance beyond where you are immediately?
Be Inspired by the things that you do to make a difference in your life and Inspire others to be the best they can be on this journey! What will you choose to do? DrWanda will help you explore new and improved opportunities.
