Breaking Down Barriers with Love

Thank God for another grow and go opportunity for the Life Coach Group! It is so amazing that God has allowed us to be free, “whom the Lord set free is free indeed” (John 8:36). We continue to be active and engaged as retirees sharing the gift of love. Ms. Janet, one of our members from New York, had this special party in honor of her husband. For years, they would have this “barbecue” inviting friends, family, church and community members to their celebration and she wanted to continue the legacy. She had been calling it a barbecue, however, one of her friends suggested that she call it a party instead because nothing being served was barbecued since much of the menu was from New York Cuisine.

We were blessed to meet and network with so many different people. Since the weather was supposed to rain and the party was going to be in Janet’s backyard, one of her neighbors suggested that she move the location to their home and have it indoors. We as guests were told how the community all came together to transport food with trailers, vehicles, and hands on deck to do whatever was needed to deliver items to make this a successful time. Wow, it was amazing! Unless you knew that this was not Janet’s home, you would have assumed everything was just as it was to be because all was planned so well and everyone worked together.  

The hit for me was karaoke because I had never done it before. I had such great fun! There was lots of food and that which I ate was good especially because of the healthy restrictions I have placed upon myself (gluten free, nondairy and non-sugar) but, all was delicious!

Call to action, may we continue to join with our brothers and sisters, no matter the differences of race, religion, ethnicity, or political affiliate. Let us treat everyone with kindness and respect as God commands us to Love one another (Matthew 22:37-39) which are promises we can trust and depend on.
