I began my day on Saturday morning by supporting the Missions, “Dress for Success” and got to check out some nice high-end clothing and shoes. Proceeds help support ladies, build their careers and help them achieve financial stability. Since I was so close to my sister’s town, I called to ensure that she would be home and she welcomed the visit! We chatted for a while when I arrived then she stressed that she was getting hungry, so was I. We decided to go to Lee’s Kitchen, a Jamaican & Southern Cuisine style Restaurant that I had never visited. The only drawback I felt was that you could not sit down to eat your food but had to take it to go!
When we left the restaurant, we carried our plates with the intention of eating them when we got to her house, however, plans changed. Shirley decided that she needed to shop for groceries. Although we were hungry, I suggested that we purchase her groceries before going home to eat. I wanted all her errands to be complete.
When we finished grocery shopping and entered Shirley’s house it was as though the food was calling my name, we were both ready to eat it. I almost couldn’t wait to oblige, the way I tore into that food. It was delicious and well worth the wait!
Today was about giving back to the community, purchasing from the sales to support others, receiving blessings for myself of clothes and shoes as well as providing quality time with my sister and helping her get the things that she needed since she can’t drive anymore. The other highlight was to enjoy a delightful meal together! What are ways you can help your neighbor as you help yourself?
