Leading of the Holy Spirit in Prayer

Prayer is talking to God! Jesus taught his disciples this model which is known as the Lord’s Prayer. It is our tried-and-true example to be obedient in life provisions as they come from God. It is also important to understand the act of forgiveness and remember as with Jesus, everything he did was to bring glory to the Father. We will explore the posture one might use to understand and explore the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost with evidence speaking in tongues. Can you share times that individuals spoke in tongues in the Bible?

Eight Factors to Consider When Experiencing the Movement of the Holy Spirit

  • Spend time with God in a quiet place.
  • Posture yourself to fellowship with uplifted hands and words of adoration; he is worthy of the praise.
  • Ask God to allow Holy Spirit to speak freely.
  • As Holy Spirit is speaking, understand that the words you hear may change…allow the freedom of these changes in the phrases, tones and sounds of worship to flow freely.
  • Listen, Holy Spirit may give you a song, scripture, a praise of Joy unto the Lord.
  • You may feel empowered to flow in a language that is not commonly used but inspiring and purposeful for that moment of exhortation.
  • Observe the difference when you normally pray compared to the time you asked Holy Spirit to Speak.
  • Write down the differences you notice each time in the move of the Holy Spirit and just from a normal prayer.

Try Him! He is the gift promised by Jesus to always be with us, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).  Remember, the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22), Life doesn’t change if we don’t want it to.

Be Filled with Holy Spirit Fire

The Holy Spirit is so powerful! If we would allow him to be the spiritual leader in our life, it would be life changing. The apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthinians14:15, “What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with understanding also.” I love how in John 14:12, he validates the importance of the gift Christ has given us in the Holy Spirit. Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go unto my Father. We are Jesus Christ’s Ambassadors and are here to represent him well, therefore we are not defeated Christians but mighty through Christ. His spirit is living inside of us, and we have been given the authority and power to use the name of Jesus with boldness for the pulling down of strong holds by Holy Ghost Fire! The Holy Spirit/Comforter empowers, leads, guides, and teaches us all things of the Father. Let us be obedient to him. Cut out all the distractions, the busyness of this life and talk to him, allow him to talk to us and focus on God’s Word.

Seek to Be Bold for Jesus Christ

God just doesn’t want us to exist once we are saved but seek to know him to the fullest. He is a Holy God therefore we must seek to be Holy (1Peter 1:15-16). God hates sin! Holy Spirit will reveal the truths of God’s Word if we would just allow him to convict us to grow closer to him each day. Finally, the words that Jesus spoke in Mark 16:16-18) before he ascended back to the Father made my heart happy! I believe he wants us to allow his spirit more control in our life “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:17-18). Remember we learned earlier that the miracles and all the things that Jesus did, we can do greater because it is not in our strength but in the power of the Holy Ghost in Jesus name. Let us be about our Father’s business.

Will you ask Jesus to allow the Holy Spirit to teach you more of him and how he can use you in the building of his Kingdom. God has a plan for each of us to experience more of Him!
